Methodology

How public source changes become Microsoft SOC intelligence.

Source Collection → Change Detection → Source Validation → Classification → SOC Analysis → Publication

Scheduled collection checks approved public sources. Content hashes identify changes. Classification evaluates relevance and evidence before publishing operational analysis. Browsing reads stored intelligence; it does not request new AI analysis.

Source hierarchy

Tier 1 — Primary / authoritative: Microsoft Learn, MSRC, Microsoft Security Blog and official Microsoft documentation.

Tier 2 — Government and security authorities: CISA and NVD.

Tier 3 — External intelligence: reputable vendor and security research sources, promoted only when a specific Microsoft SOC relationship is supported.

Editorial scope

Microsoft Security covers native Microsoft product and security changes. Ecosystem Impact covers third-party developments affecting Microsoft environments, integrations or detections. Unrelated news is held out of primary intelligence.

Evidence and analysis

AI is an analysis and classification layer, not the authoritative source. Automated analysis can be incomplete or incorrect. Source links remain visible so analysts can verify claims. Unsupported actions and unknown vulnerability metadata are not filled with invented facts.

Date integrity

Source publication and update dates are distinct from collection, analysis and site publication dates. Missing source publication dates are explicitly unavailable. Recent intelligence uses a rolling source-date window and preserves access to older records after quiet collections.

Hunting validation

AI-generated queries must pass conservative static structure and table/column screening before display. Complex or unsupported schemas require review. Static screening is not tenant execution; the Schema Checked label reports static screening only. Not Runtime Validated remains the default; runtime evidence requires a passed execution, evidence identifier and matching timestamps. Reference association does not mean content was adapted or converted.

Coverage and limitations

Collection status reports successful, partial and failed checks separately. This public-source service does not represent tenant-private Microsoft 365 Service Health. An empty result does not establish that an environment is secure. Published intelligence is retained in Archive while temporary fetch artifacts and caches expire.
